The Nike Sportswear Air Force 1 Bespoke offering has largely been reserved for those with media ties and deep pockets. With a price-tag nearing $900 USD a pair, it comes as no surprise the rarity of the experience. A man who knows a thing or two about sneakers, Gary Warnett of Crooked Tongues had the opportunity to make his mark. As part of the inaugural World Basketball Festival – brought together by Converse, the Jordan Brand and Nike Basketball – recording artist JAY-Z will take the stage at New York’s Radio City Music Hall on Thursday August 12, 2010, following an on-court showcase featuring finalists for the 2010 USA Basketball World Championship Team.

In addition to his performance, JAY-Z has joined forces with Nike to create an iconic collection of Air Force Ones – the All Black Everything collection inspired by the World Basketball Festival. Nike has donated the shoes to the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation who in turn have linked up with eBay on a charity auction that begins on August 12th at www.ebay.com/jayznikewbf. Only two pairs of each of the five designs will be created, one for the winning bidder and one for the man behind the design, JAY-Z.

Renowned for its brand of high end jewelry, Chrome Hearts bring those very elements to the footwear arena as we see the brand pair up with Rick Owens. The outcome is a pair of high top sneakers, equipped with silver detailing throughout, including a side zipper accents. Two colors were produced; black and white. Both are now available through Chrome Hearts Flagship stores.

Nike SB’s latest premium release for April 2010 begins to hit retail accounts. Dubbed the “Skunk” Dunk, the kicks pay obvious tribute to a certain “green” with a wild tonal green and purple suede upper, complimented by matching midsoles and a tongue stash pocket. The design continues Nike’s partnership with legendary skateboard artist Todd Bratrud, who also provides the graphics for the custom insoles. A release is set for next Tuesday, April 20th, through Primitive.

The latest quickstrike release from Nike SB comes in the form of this “Blue Zebra” rendition of the classic Blazer silhouette. Given a mostly black base, the kicks are accented with white midsoles, red detailing, and an interesting Zebra print slapped on the side panels. They are now available through finer Nike SB accounts, including Primitive.

Nike SB drops its latest color-up of the well-received Zoom Bruin SB. The kicks take on a classic suede orange/black colorway, accented with white midsoles for the perfect SF Giants pop. They are now available through Korean retailer Kasina, although a stateside release can be expected soon.

Kasina puts us onto an upcoming design from Nike for Spring 2010. Taking a slight turn from the traditional Blazer, we see the Blazer Mid Belt, a quickstrike rendition of the classic basketball shoe, done up with more of a fashionista flair. All black leather make up the uppers while tonal midsoles, laces, and a leather jacket type belt add the premium touch. Look for these to drop soon via finer Nike accounts. Read more
